Bristol hotel’s kitchen team wins industry accolade

The Kitchen Team at the Aztec Hotel and Spa in Bristol have been named ‘Team of the Year’ at a glittering gala hosted by the Bristol Hoteliers Association this February.

The team, lead by Executive Head Chef, Marc Payne took the accolade at the third annual ‘Night Of The Stars’ event where more than 330 guests gathered to celebrate those who have gone above and beyond in their work to support hospitality in the city, a sector which makes a significant contribution to the local economy.

The 4-star Aztec hotel’s restaurant was re-launched in May 2019 as The Curious Kitchen, and was awarded a second AA rosette just one month later. The Curious Kitchen is becoming widely known for perfecting homemade culinary methods including pickling, curing and smoking produce to create the best tasting dishes. From infused mayonnaise to cured or smoked meats and fish, these much-loved practices bring out the best of the local produce and allow diners to experience beautifully delicious food all prepared by a passionate team of chefs.

Outside of their day-to-day roles, the Kitchen Team play an integral part in the hotel’s charity work, which includes involvement with Street Life, an organisation that provides hot meals, drinks, soup, cold meal packs and clothing to those on the street. Twice a year the kitchen team cook up hot, delicious meals for over 180 people and then volunteer their time to serve those who need it the most.
