York's Historic Middletons Hotel Achieves 4 Star Status

Middletons Hotel in York has been officially upgraded to a four-star property following a recent inspection by the AA Quality Standards for Hotels.

The historic hotel, which is part of the House of Daniel Thwaites collective, achieved the improved rating amidst a multi-million pound refurbishment across its estate of six listed buildings.

The AA inspector said: “There is much that guests will find positive at Middletons Hotel, not least the location and the work to date on the Cromwell House bedrooms and the cottage suites. The newly refreshed rooms are clearly of a four-star standard with very good appointment, beds, amenities and modern lighting.

A diligent approach to housekeeping was noted in the room occupied, cleanliness and presentation impressing here. Public areas were well tended and neatly presented throughout the stay. Service scores are now of a level to reach four stars. Reservation was very good, with a quick response and fluent procedures to note. Arrival and departure procedures showed very good levels of knowledge and service quality.”

The ongoing refurbishment has been designed to honour and celebrate Middletons’ historic roots and heritage, something which the House of Daniel Thwaites collective has developed a reputation for across its 21 properties.

Middletons Hotel General Manager, Adam Wardale, was thrilled to achieve the new rating and said: “It’s incredibly exciting to be recognised as a four-star property by the AA. To achieve the four-star rating before the refurbishment is even complete shows that we’re investing in the right areas and stands us in good stead for future growth.”
